The Largest Gaming Convention in Arizona

I’ve been in my convention era lately, however that doesn’t mean I’m only going to be attending conventions around the country. Arizona has its fair share of conventions that highlight anime and gaming and I’m pleased to announce that this year I will be covering media for a popular multimedia convention here in the Phoenix area. Game On Expo is a multimedia gaming and anime event that began in 2015 and is the largest gaming convention in Arizona! Game On Expo is a family-friendly event celebrating gaming, anime, music, and more! Whether you’re a hardcore, casual gamer, or anime fan, there is something for everyone at Game On Expo. Join…

    Katsucon 2024 Recap

Believe it or not, I attended Katsucon for the first time this year despite being local to the convention for as long as the convention has been running. Nonetheless, I had a blast and the 3-day convention went by in the blink of an eye. I had the pleasure of attending the convention with the same friends I enjoyed Dreamcon with as it was our first convention together since that joyous time we had together in July. The general standard practice for weekend conventions is to arrive the day before so naturally I returned to my hometown on Thursday. I spent some time catching up with family before attending the…

How to Make Your Own Blinky Prop for Under $30

I’d been wanting to cosplay Shizuku Murasaki of the Phantom Troupe from Hunter x Hunter for some time now, however not having a Blinky prop had always deterred me from the idea. I’d made it a goal of mine to get more into the prop-making aspect of cosplay so I decided to try my hand at making Blinky myself. There are many different cost-friendly ways to go about making a Blinky prop and mine only cost me around $30 to achieve. You can easily make your own Blinky with Crayola Air Dry Clay, acrylic paint, an extendable rod, and patience. I also filmed a tutorial for anyone looking to try…

The Best Site for Buying Sanrio and San-X Directly from Japan

If you’re a Sanrio, San-X, or collector of all things kawaii, you know how important it is to have a selection of different go-to stores and websites to source official merchandise. One of my favorite places to buy kawaii merchandise directly from Japan is Japan You Want Kawaii. Japan You Want Kawaii sells official, licensed character goods including Sanrio, Rilakkuma, Sentimental Circus, Jinbesan, Kirby, Sumikko Gurashi, Pokemon, and more. They have everything from plush toys to keychains to stationary and home goods items. Not to mention, because the items are from Japan, you’re sure to get your hands on more unique and rare items than you’d likely find in the…

A Magical Time at the Studio Ghibli Theme Park (& How You Can Visit It Too!)

Ghibli Theme Park The Ghibli Theme Park is an interactive park dedicated to the world of Studio Ghibli. You will find yourself immersed in scenes from our beloved Ghibli classics as you explore all this park has to offer. It is located in Aichi, Japan, and is not to be confused with the Ghibli Museum which is located in Tokyo, Japan. The Ghibli Theme Park is still fairly new and undergoing expansion, so this post will only cover information on the parts of the park we visited- Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse. However other areas of the park include the newly opened Mononoke Village, Dondoko Forest, and the Hill of Youth. To…

    Dream Convention 2023 Recap

This past weekend I went to Dream Convention for the first time. If you’re not familiar, Dream Con is an anime and gaming convention in Texas. As a cosplayer and an avid fan of both anime and video games, this convention was right up my alley. Although I’ve attended conventions for anime and gaming before, this was my first time traveling out-of-state for a 3-day convention. I arrived Thursday evening, the day before the convention, excited to meet up with a friend who was also attending. Pre-registration for the convention was held on Thursday, so after checking in and dropping our bags were headed over to registration. We stayed about…

How to Start Cosplaying: a Beginner’s Guide

When I started cosplaying in 2017, I didn't give it much thought before I up and transformed myself into Kim Possible. However, now that I've been cosplaying for 6 years and have grown significantly when it comes to costume/prop making, editing, make-up, and shooting/filming, I have a ton of tips for those looking to get started or improve their cosplays.

How I Won Cool Prizes from a Japanese Online Crane Game

I’ve never been good at crane games- although I’ve never tried playing them a ton either. However, when I saw one of my mutual friends on Tik Tok talking about all the prizes she’d won playing this crane game, I was intrigued. I love collecting anime and Sanrio merchandise and the idea of winning unique prizes through this game was enticing. TokyoCatch, the infamous online Japanese crane game where you can win real prizes straight from Japan, became my newest obsession. Its’ constantly rotating arsenal of cute Sanrio plushies and diverse anime figures keeps me opening the app several times a day. While it’s not completely free to play (you…
